One Piece Folder (OPF) FAQ
Practical answers on choosing the structure, avoiding common problems, and confirming the right specification for your product.
When is a one-piece folder useful for flat products?
It is worth sampling when the product can sit on a flat blank and the surrounding panels fold around it. Provide the complete stack thickness and corner requirements. Check a wrapped sample to see whether the chosen depth controls movement without pressing the faces.
Technical references
Can an OPF protect a print or framed picture?
Start with the fragility of the surface and corners, then define any protective sheets or edge pieces inside the folder. Test the complete arrangement for rubbing and corner impacts. A close-fitting wrap should not be assumed to provide cushioning by itself.
Technical references
How should the OPF opening avoid scratching the contents?
Check where the closure, tape and folded board edges sit relative to the product face. Open a fully packed sample using the intended method and watch for dragging corners or adhesive contact. A separate surface barrier may be worth including in the trial.
Technical references
Does a thicker stack require only a larger folder?
The fold positions and closure reach also need review when the product stack changes. Supply minimum and maximum packed thicknesses, then sample both. A blank that barely closes around the thickest stack may leave the thin version loose or expose its edges.
