Half Slotted Container (HSC) FAQ
Practical answers on choosing the structure, avoiding common problems, and confirming the right specification for your product.
How is an HSC closed at the open end?
The HSC has flaps at one end, so the other end needs a separate lid or a deliberately open handling arrangement. Confirm whether your application is storage, picking or shipment before choosing a cover and deciding how it will stay attached.
Technical references
Can we use an HSC as an order-picking bin?
An open top can make products easier to reach, but specify shelf depth, pick access and the weight left in the bin. Test repeated removal with an actual sample; the useful opening should not require weakening a loaded wall without checking its behavior.
Technical references
What dimensions are needed for a matching HSC lid?
Provide the erected body's outside dimensions and the intended lid overlap, rather than treating the internal opening as the lid size. Review a paired sample for smooth fitting, finger access and interference from printed wraps or any reinforcing parts.
Technical references
Does a removable HSC cover make it ready for parcel shipping?
A cover alone does not establish parcel suitability. Specify how the lid is retained and how the contents are restrained, then assess the complete filled pack for opening, crushing and movement along the intended route. Include the final closure in testing.
