Full Overlap (FOL) FAQ
Practical answers on choosing the structure, avoiding common problems, and confirming the right specification for your product.
Why choose full-overlap flaps for a narrow product?
The extra flap coverage may be useful when the base and closure need more material across them. Compare the filled layout with an RSC sample, including the available internal height, rather than assuming the additional flap layers solve every protection requirement.
Technical references
Will full-overlap flaps affect our tape or glue setup?
They change where the final flap edge lands and how many layers the closure crosses. Share your sealing equipment and intended orientation, then run filled samples through the closing process to check flap control, adhesive contact and any step under the tape.
Technical references
Can an FOL box ship on its side?
Specify the intended shipping orientation at the design stage because overlap and product support interact. Trial that exact orientation with the interior packing and closure installed. The extra board in one direction does not establish a stacking limit for every other direction.
Technical references
What should we check around the overlapped base?
Inspect whether small feet or narrow product edges sit over a step between flap layers. A leveling pad or revised product position may be worth sampling. Test with the actual load so any tilt, rubbing or local base distortion becomes visible.
