Center Special Slotted (CSSC) FAQ
Practical answers on choosing the structure, avoiding common problems, and confirming the right specification for your product.
What makes a CSSC different from a regular slotted box?
Its inner and outer flaps are arranged to meet across the opening, rather than leaving the usual gap between inner flaps. Confirm that geometry on the dieline, then check the assembled base with the product to see whether the more continuous support is useful.

Is a CSSC useful for products with small contact feet?
It is worth comparing when small feet would otherwise sit near a base gap, but the packed arrangement still matters. Mark each contact point on a packing drawing and inspect a loaded sample for indentation, rocking and contact with flap joints.
Technical references
Does the extra flap coverage reduce usable height?
Several layers meet at the closed ends, so check the clearance with the actual board and packed product. Include any top or bottom pads in the sample. Bare product height alone will not show whether the upper flaps close without pressing on contents.

What closure check matters most for a CSSC?
Check the closing sequence and whether all flap ends sit where the drawing intends before sealing. Use filled samples to spot trapped or riding flaps. If the product is uneven at the top, sample a separating pad rather than forcing the closure flat.
