Degassing Valve Pouch FAQ
Practical answers on choosing the structure, avoiding common problems, and confirming the right specification for your product.
When does coffee need a degassing feature?
Share whether the coffee is whole bean or ground, roast-to-pack timing, fill weight and intended storage. Freshly roasted coffee can release gas, but the required solution depends on the product and process. Assess a valve or other degassing design with your packing team.

Does a valve replace oxygen and moisture barrier film?
No. Gas release and external barrier protection are different functions. Request the laminate proposal and valve specification together, then evaluate the filled coffee pack. Do not assign a shelf-life claim from the presence of a valve or from a generic high-barrier description.
Where should the valve sit in the pouch?
Provide fill height, product settling, headspace and filling method. Review the valve position on the filled sample so it is not obstructed by contents or interfering with a fold, graphic or sealing area. Check handling and case packing before fixing the location.

What should valve-pouch approval include?
Record the named valve, attachment method, laminate and position along with the roast-to-pack conditions used in trials. Inspect seal integrity and pack expansion under the agreed product evaluation plan. Any change in the valve or film should trigger review of the existing approval.
