Side Gusset Pouch FAQ
Practical answers on choosing the structure, avoiding common problems, and confirming the right specification for your product.
How should a side-gusset coffee pouch be sized?
Provide the actual fill weight, product form and bulk density, then check the expanded gussets and headspace on a filled sample. Review the shelf profile and case arrangement together. Whole beans and ground coffee should not be assumed to occupy the same space.
Technical references
Does the side gusset automatically give it a stable base?
Check the filled geometry and bottom construction directly rather than relying on the gusset description. Place samples on the intended shelf and assess lean, settling and presentation. If standing performance matters, make it an explicit approval criterion before choosing the final dimensions.
Technical references
Should we add a degassing valve or a tin tie?
Specify the product and usage requirement for each feature. Coffee degassing and consumer reclosure are different functions, and neither replaces the initial seal. Share the roast-to-pack sequence and opening experience so proposed features can be assessed with the chosen laminate.
What should we check at the top seal across the gussets?
Send filled samples through your actual closing process and inspect areas where folds change the seal thickness. Record the operating settings used for the trial. Check for channels, distortion and product contamination before accepting the pouch for the intended packing line.
