Child Resistant Pouch FAQ
Practical answers on choosing the structure, avoiding common problems, and confirming the right specification for your product.
What evidence is needed for a child-resistant claim?
Request a test report and certification scope covering the complete pouch, closure, dimensions and intended use conditions. Have the applicable market requirements reviewed for your product. A closure described as child-resistant or a certificate for another pack is insufficient to establish this finished configuration.
How do adult opening and reclosure affect the design?
Evaluate the approved opening instructions with intended adult users and the actual fill. Check whether they can open and fully re-engage the closure consistently. Any ease-of-use change must remain within the verified child-resistant design rather than simplifying the mechanism informally.
Can we change film, pouch size or zipper position later?
Treat those changes as a reason to review the existing test and certification scope before production. Keep the approved construction and closure layout documented. A visually similar pack may differ in how users grip or manipulate it, so do not assume earlier evidence transfers.
Does child resistance replace tamper evidence or barrier testing?
These address different requirements. Specify whether first-opening evidence, product protection and reclosure are also needed, then validate the complete arrangement. The child-resistant mechanism does not by itself establish seal integrity, formulation compatibility or the shelf life of the packaged product.
